Starting at a young age, I knew I wanted to help people heal their relationships with food and their bodies. I grew up in a community where disordered eating and diet culture were rampant, and my interest grew from there. This led me to study psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with plans for a career working with people struggling in their relationships with food. After graduating, I worked on a clinical research study focused on reducing disordered eating behaviors in military families. From this experience, I knew I wanted to become a dietitian and work to dismantle diet culture and the distorted messages society sends about how to eat and what bodies should look like. I went back to school to pursue my Masters in Public Health in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Michigan, where I also completed my Dietetic Internship. My graduate studies focused on the prevention and treatment of eating disorders, family feeding practices, and weight bias in healthcare. Through these experiences, I’ve become passionate about helping people heal their relationships with food and their bodies using an intuitive eating framework and a Health at Every Size® approach without the rigidity of diet culture. I have been working with and supporting clients in private practice since 2020. A few fun facts about me... -I love going to the library and coming home with a stack of new books to read. -I like to bake and cook. My favorite foods to make are chocolate chip cookies, bread bowls, and broccoli cheddar soup pies. -Before I became a dietitian, I was a babysitter, dogsitter, and camp counselor, and I try to bring that fun energy and mentorship into my work with clients. -When I’m not seeing clients, I like to spend time outside with my husband and rescue dog, Finley, who also serves as the office administrator. __________ Still not sure if you need a weight-inclusive dietitian? Consider the following: -Are you tired of counting calories? -Do you find yourself anticipating your next diet? -Do you feel out of control around food? -Does exercise feel like something you "have to" or "should do"? -Are you ready to ditch the diet mentality and reconnect with your body's inner wisdom?
